In 2010, Tom Brady signed an endorsement deal with Australian based footwear company UGGS. The global ad campaign will kick off this Monday night during the 2011 Monday Night Football season opener.
“This partnership marks a new season for UGG Australia, and Tom Brady is the ideal first endorser for the brand,” Deckers Outdoor Corporation Chairman and CEO Angel Martinez said in a statement. “He embodies the stylish casual attitude that is at the foundation of every product we make, and is as much a style icon off the field as he is a playmaker on it.”
The company is widely recognized for its female collection and is using Tom Brady to drive sales, build credibility and brand awareness its 2011 Men’s collection.
“I have worn and loved the UGG brand for a long time,” Brady said. “This collaboration gives me an opportunity to work with a leading global brand with a great history and a true vision for the future of its men’s collection. It’s an exciting time to be part of the UGG Australia team.”
Tom Brady has developed a unique strategy when approaching the companies he aligns with. Tom Brady is one of the premier players in NFL history which would be a great fit for tier one corporations. Instead, Brady’s strategy has been to partner with companies looking to build their brand. His portfolio includes Under Armour and Glaceau SmartWater each of which he has a stake in the company. This is an intelligent approach and has the potential to become very lucrative…ask Gisele. Her Ipanema line with the shoe brand Grendene accounts for over 63% of the company’s revenue, selling over 25 million pairs last year.
We will see if UGGS and Tom Brady can create the same success in 2011.
